Human-Centred AI for Schools

Practical AI fluency presentations for students and educators.

AI is no longer coming. It is already woven into how students learn, search, create, communicate, solve problems, and prepare for their futures.

These sessions help school communities move beyond fear, hype, and confusion. The focus is simple: students and educators need practical AI fluency, clear judgement, and human responsibility.

This is not a presentation about replacing human thinking. It is about strengthening it.

Human First. AI Second

AI can help students explain ideas, organize thoughts, practise for tests, brainstorm, create, and get unstuck.

But AI can also quietly weaken learning when it does too much, too soon.

The goal is to help students become thoughtful and capable users of AI, and who know how to think with AI while still thinking for themselves.

Sessions are available for Junior, Middle, Secondary, Educator, and Educator AI-Skills Workshop audiences.

Junior Students

Focus: curiosity, simple rules, privacy, and staying in charge.

Students learn:

  • What AI is and what it is not
  • Why AI is a tool, not a person or trusted adult
  • How to ask simple, useful questions
  • Why AI should help learning, not do the work
  • How to protect names, school, photos, passwords, and personal information
  • What to do when something online feels weird, confusing, or unsafe

Well-being perspective: AI can sound friendly and helpful, but students need to know when to pause, stop typing, and talk to a trusted adult.

Middle (Intermediate)

Focus: judgement, identity, schoolwork, pressure, and smart choices.

Students learn:

  • How to use AI for learning without crossing integrity lines
  • How to tell the difference between AI support and AI replacement
  • How to check AI answers before trusting them
  • How to protect their own writing voice and confidence
  • How to recognize over-reliance, shortcuts, and dependency
  • How to respond to pressure, impersonation, fake messages, and online manipulation

Well-being perspective: AI can support students, but it should not replace their thinking, friendships, family, teachers, or trusted adults.

Secondary

Focus: future readiness, academic integrity, reputation, and life skills.

Students learn:

  • Why AI fluency matters for post-secondary learning and future work
  • How to use AI for planning, studying, feedback, and idea development
  • How to disclose AI use and defend their own thinking
  • How to avoid fake sources, polished work they do not understand, and over-reliance
  • How AI connects to reputation, identity, opportunity, and real-world decision-making
  • How to pause before trusting, sharing, submitting, or posting AI-assisted content

Well-being perspective: Students are challenged to become confident, capable, and responsible AI users – not passive users, fearful users, or students who let technology do their thinking for them.

Educators

Focus: Student AI guidance, classroom language, judgement, and confident educator leadership.

Educators learn:

  • How to discuss AI with students in a calm, clear, and informed way
  • How to move beyond fear, avoidance, cheating-only conversations, and tool hype
  • How to create shared language for responsible AI use across classrooms
  • How to help students recognize when AI supports learning and when it replaces learning
  • How to use simple classroom tools such as Green / Yellow / Red AI use, AI Use Notes, and Explain-It-Back questions
  • How to build student agency, academic integrity, confidence, and human responsibility

Professional-learning perspective: Educators do not have to love AI or become technical experts. This session welcomes educators at every starting point; curious, skeptical, experienced, or unsure. The session gives them practical language to guide students with confidence.

Educator AI-Skills Workshop

Focus: Hands-on AI skills for teaching, planning, assessment, and classroom resource creation.

Educators learn:

  • How to use an AI model as a practical teaching assistant while keeping educator judgement in charge
  • How to write stronger prompts using task, context, audience, constraints, and format
  • How to create lesson plans that match grade level, timing, materials, and classroom realities
  • How to build rubrics, quizzes, answer keys, educational games, and review activities
  • How to request outputs as tables, checklists, charts, study guides, flashcards, and other useful formats
  • How to refine, simplify, differentiate, and repurpose AI-generated material

Workshop perspective: This is a demonstration-based workshop. Educators see how one teaching idea can become a lesson plan, rubric, quiz, game, study guide, and differentiated resource inside one AI conversation.
